LINDA WHEELER

I have been engaged in various aspects of visual art over a period of thirty years, studying with Trio Arts, Kyneton, Bendigo TAFE and La Trobe University.  I hold a Master of Visual Arts by Research and enjoy reading and investigating art movements and the biographies of artists and their techniques.  This has led to an interest in the display of art and the mystery of meaning.

The idea of escape as a subject for exploration in painting – personally and intellectually – has been on my mind since my early research days.  As these ideas formed, mountains increasingly appeared beckoning a passage to other worlds, or indeed a barrier to this same method of exploration.

My work is inspired by people and events in my life and I enjoy painting ambiguous works and the spaces that hover between recognition and non-figuration.
