Growing up, colours, patterns and fabric inspired me as I taught myself to sew. Stories of history sparked my imagination. The most memorable years were spent in Japan, immersed in a culture that reveres nature and beautiful design. My mother was always practising art and taking photos. Family trips were punctuated with “John, stop the car!” as my mother spied another glorious sight to photograph.
Many years ago, armed with my first digital SLR camera, I became the one asking to “Stop the car!”, as we drove around Bathurst, intrigued by the different cast iron lacework patterns. My creative senses were ignited and a seed was planted.
That seed has continued to grow and blossom. Now, everything I love has come together in the digital collages and fabric designs I create.
